[mythtv-users] Question about setting up pvr cards to record specific inputs

Got a question.. sorry for such a long post. Currently I am running
0.16 and have a pvr350 (using its tvout) running on FC2. Everything
has been working fine but lately I have had conflicts on who gets to
watch tv on thursday night, one want to watch certain stuff and she
wants to watch joey, ER and all those shows. So I have been looking
into buying a new pvr250 so i can record my shows while she is
watching her's (unfortunately the place I would buy it from is
backordered until april).

Currently my pvr takes in digital cable from my cable box via svideo
and then outputs back to my tv via svideo. In order to watch my shows
and keep the same programming guide would mean that I would have to
buy another cable box, which I don't feel like doing. I currently have
a cable input going to my tv as well so I can pick up the analog
channels. So i figured I would just record my shows on the pvr350 and
then change over to normal tv to let her watch her shows, seemed like
a good idea until I tried and for some reason it looks up my tv and I
can't change channels. It required me to physically unplug my tv from
the wall and plug it back in. I have no idea what woud cause this to
happen (I have like a 3 year old 27 inch phillips tv). So i figured I
would just pay another pvr250 to handle this since I really like
having the option to pause, rewind live tv.

So how do I go about this now. I would like to use my 350 for live tv
and the 250 for recording. So this means I will have to reconfigure
my guide since the channels are not the same between digital and
analog. So how would i go about telling mythtv that only the 250 is
allowed to record tv shows set up through the guide in mythweb and
then have the 350 just handle the live tv for the digital cable feed?

Also my wife has really gotten into playing the old nes games through
mythgame and if i had the choice to do it over again I would have
purchased a new nvidia card and pvr250 but it is too late for that and
we all know the how bad even trivial games play over the 350 tvout.
There is just enough lag to make it really annoying. But the tvout is
very good and I am very happy with it. So would there be a way to buy
a cheap nvidia card (Maybe something like this
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=14-150-041&DEPA=1
and since my tv only has one svideo input I could get a svideo to
composite adapter) and use that to display the myth osd and allow me
to play games at normal speed and then maybe set up an ir blaster to
change the inputs on my tv? So right now I have mythtv set up on
svideo1.. And would set up the other input on AV1. When I click watch
tv the ir blaster would send a command to change inputs to Svideo1and
when i hit exit it would change the input back to AV1). I guess the
first thing to ask would be if it is possible to do this in my
xorg.conf file since I would have two separate outputs to the tv. If
this is completely stupid and not even feasible sorry for making you
guys read all this. If it is possible can you provide me with some
tips, and if not possible some alternatives to my problem?

Thanks,
Evan
