I too am getting this prebuffering pause, however in my case, I get less
than a second of video, then it pauses. If i alt-tab and look at the
output in the terminal it says:

After a long pause, it automatically swtiches back to the menu
*sometimes* (possibly when i freak out and get my nervousy twitch
hitting a button the on my remote when it pauses on me) after a message
is displayed on the screen saying
Error was encountered while displaying video.
[button at bottom]
Return to Menu

I also have a problem with not getting anysound.
Ive tried what is mentioned in the site
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php?SID&expandables=open&ivtv=open&pvr350out=open

which says to:
# /sbin/rmmod ivtv
# cd /lib/modules/$KVER/kernel/drivers/media/video
# mv msp3400.ko msp3400.ko.orig

then

# /sbin/depmod -a
# /sbin/modprobe ivtv
# cat /dev/video0 > /tmp/test_capture.mpg
# mplayer /tmp/test_capture.mpg

but still no sound.

Thanks for all yuor help!

James
