Hi David,

1. Make a simlink of Japanese font in a share directory of mythtv.
	ln -s /path/to/japanesefont.ttf /usr/share/mythtv
		or
	ln -s /path/to/japanesefont.ttf /usr/local/share/mythtv

2. Choose the OSD and Closed caption font that you linked it in setup -> 
plaback -> Onscreen display.
