In general, I would *HIGHLY* recommend getting a capture card with
hardware MPEG-2 encoding, such as the PVR-250.  Not only are your CPU
loads *far* lower, but in my experience, the end result is higher
quality as well.

They're so cheap it's hard to argue against it.
