Get the PVR-250 from Hauppage. It's a good solid card, and does hardware
encoding, thus less CPU is used on the box, and you get higher quality
recordings, that you can use that extra CPU cycles to transcode later to
smaller mpeg4 files.

My brother bought one of these TV Wonder Proc (CX88 chipset cards) and I
can not get it to work at all still. I am getting the same results as
you.

the PVR-250 is a little more expensive (around $100-150 USD depending on
where and what sales are going on), but it's well worth it.

My dad is running two of these cards in one box and it works great.
