[mythtv-users] *bump* remote frontend; ALSA not working

Most of my problems with sound have been because of file permissions.  I
would run tests with the devices you listed above using aplay from the 
command
line as the user that will be running mythtv just to double-check that 
you aren't
having any problems there.  aplay has a command line switch (-d maybe) 
that
allows you to specify the output device.

Also, from what I've seen in CVS, ALSA and OSS support in myth do not 
seem to
coexist.  If you're attempting to use ALSA devices, make sure your myth 
is compiled
with ALSA support.  If you're doing this yourself, there's a file 
called something like
settings.pro that needs to have the ALSA support uncommented.  Remember 
to
make clean if you've previously compiled without ALSA support.

You don't mention an error message so there's part of me that wonders 
if you've
double-checked that you have sound coming in on the recorded video.  
Several
times, I've ended up with an extra msp3400.ko that didn't work right.  
I think there
are tons of references to this in the list archives.

btw - I don't believe you set the frontend audio output using 
mythsetup.  It's done
through Setup -> General from mythfrontend, isn't it?  Was that a typo 
above?
