[mythtv-users] DCT2000 serial cable question

That seems odd that the DCT2224 doesn't have it.  I know Cox systems
using that particular cable box do, as do Adelphia DCT2224 boxes
(http://www.byopvr.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=XForum&file=viewthread&tid=624#pid2644)

While it is possible that those "mini stereo type jacks" could do it,
it's not likely.  Easiest way would be to call your cable provider. 
Tell them you have a Tivo and would like to change channels on your
cable box via a serial port.  They'll either tell you what port to
use,
possibly provide you with a different cable box that has a serial
port, or tell you they don't support serial control of the boxes
period (my guess is it will likely be the third option).  In that
case, you'll need an IR Blaster. (http://www.irblaster.info   you can
get one for $15 shipped.  Quite easy to configure, at least on
Fedora).
