For a more realistic clock on your video capture machine, use this:
#!/usr/bin/perl
for ( my $i = 0; 1; $i++ )
{
`mythtvosd --template=alert --alert_text="12:00"`;
sleep 1;
`mythtvosd --template=alert --alert_text=""`;
sleep 1;
}
