I recently purchased a technisat airstar2, and I'm having trouble
getting the remote going. The remote comes with a little infrared serial
dongle, and neither the remote nor the dongle seem to have anything that
identifies them - I assumed the "serial" driver would be appropriate (is
that right?).
Running Gentoo with a 2.6.11 kernel.
I'm compiled the kernel with serial support as a module:
CONFIG_SERIAL_8250=m
CONFIG_SERIAL_8250_NR_UARTS=4
I'm compiled lirc using the serial driver.
LIRC_OPTS="--with-driver=serial" emerge lirc
I then rebooted and did a:
modprobe lirc_serial
Which produces the following output in dmesg:
lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61
lirc_serial: no version for "lirc_unregister_plugin" found: kernel
tainted.
lirc_serial: auto-detected active low receiver
lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin:sample_rate: 0
I then run "mode2 -d /dev/lirc0", but I don't get any output when I
start bashing buttons. Should I be? (the lirc site seems to suggest that
this is not appropriate for all remotes).
Also,
http://www.fishpool.org/archives/tech/200411/building_of_a_digital_htpc_
part_1.html mentions that the remote configuration is shipped with lirc,
but I don't see anything in the lirc references airstar.
Am I going down the right path to getting this remote working?
