[mythtv-users] Odd performance problem on AMD64

This is very strange, but I thought I'd present it here to see if anyone
else has seen it.

I have a dual Opteron 244/Tyan Thunder K8W (S2885) as my primary desktop
machine.  I usually watch TV on this machine while I'm doing other work.
 While I've tweaked Myth and my setup to give me predictably-good
performance, I noticed sometime a few weeks ago that when powering on
the machine, I need to boot up Linux and then reboot once, or HDTV
playback will consume lots of CPU and skip frames.

Very, very strange.  Any ideas?
