2.6.8 is buggy as far as I can tell. I wasn't able to locate the bug,
but I had several freezes on Dual-Opterons and K7s using 2.6 < 2.6.10.
After the switch to 2.6.10 or 2.6.11 all machines are rock solid. I
don't know what the cause for the freezes was, seemed to be DMA related,
some kind of race condition maybe.

You should get a little bit more cool air in you case :-)
>From what I've seen the cooling in the Dimension case is at the limit
with a P4. Maybe the addition of the PVR tipped the balance?
