For the record... it is now working, by commenting out the "RenderAccel".
It was an Nvidia MX4000 running at AGP 2X.

XvMc DOES work now, but it isn't completely stable.  In sections where
there were a lot of pixels changing, it would jitter.  I'll try it
again once .18 comes out... but its possible its also a hardware
limitation I have right now.
