Yes, it needs to run on each boot. I put mine in my myth-load.sh
script, which you may not have unless you followed Jarod's guide.

Also, mine is a bit different than the fix mentioned by the other poster:

/usr/bin/xvattr -a XV_COLORKEY -v 0
