You might find digital cable (which is even more expensive) better because
of the ability to get firewire out from the boxes, which is the only
way to record HD signals if they are offered (which they need not be but
sometimes are.)

No satellite company offers firewire out, but there are companies that
sell modded boxes which have firewire out.

Of course, there is no "capture card" that can recored HD signals
from these boxes because there are no consumer HD capture cards
on the market.  The only HD capture cards cost many thousands of
dollars.    Your options are a tuner/demod card which works only
with over the air broadcasts or QAM on cable, or a box that can
output firewire.

Or watching HDTV live.   But I can't stand to watch TV live.

You would not be able to record your Voom HD with Myth, unless you
can get a modded box that would do firewire out.
