[mythtv-users] Anyone using LVM2 w/ ext3 for video storage

I agree that LVM is good but whether RAID is a waste or not depends on
how you intend to use your system.  Performance may not be an issue
but data reliability could be.

For example if you're using your systems as a video or music library. 
Maybe you've ripped and transcoded hundreds of dvd's or thousands of
cd's and don't want to lose the data because of the time invested.  Or
maybe you have all the shows of a TV series recorded (e.g. the old
Outer Limits shows) and it may be very difficult to reproduce.

Once we get into the realm of huge storage, the things we can do with
our systems greatly expands.  But the likelihood that we can backup
the data diminishes.
