I'm not an expert in these matters, but it seems to me
that RAID is more utilized for redundancy and
reliability of large systems.  If your backend had 3
HDs and wanted to make sure that any disk/server/power
failure would not corrupt your files, RAID would be an
answer.  But if you only had 1 HD, RAID doesn't really help.
