My observations are that with the HDTV I've recorded, it's a little over
8G/hour.  So if you cut out the commercials, you can easily fit a
half-hour show on a DVD, and with the newer dual-layer recordable DVDs
you can fit an hour show.  Note that Myth doesn't have support for
editing a video file without transcoding, but there are tools to do just
that with MPEG-2 files (such as from ATSC broadcasts or PVR-250
encodings).

Of course, this is talking about putting MPEG-2 files onto a DVD disc,
not creating something that will play on a standard DVD player.  For
that, you have to transcode to lower resolution, as current DVD players
don't do HDTV resolutions.
