[mythtv-users] pundit users: anyone have 5.1 audio working?

Anyone have 5.1 audio working on a pundit (specifically thru the optical 
output)? I've got my sound coming out of the optical (both when watching 
live tv and using mplayer), but it's always 2 channel. The list of devices 
from "aplay -l" I'm getting doesn't seem right to me. Shouldn't I have a 
iec958 playback device? I'm using gentoo and I've tried the dev-sources 
2.6.8-r1 and a vanilla 2.6.8.1 kernel. Any ideas?
