[mythtv-users] Live TV has No Audio - IOMagic PC-PVR and Revolution 7.1

Hey everyone,

Let me start by saying that, judging by the ease of use of its interface,
MythTV definitely appears to be a great project. Too bad MythTV doesn't
run on Windows so I could have my parents use it :)

Here is my issue: Over the past few days I have been trying to set up
MythTV to work with my tv tuner and audio card. I began with the Fedora 2
RPMs but have since uninstalled those and am now using a build from CVS
(dated 9/2/2004). (Yes, I made sure ALSA support is compiled into MythTV.)
I have an IOMagic PC-PVR as my TV Tuner and a Revolution 7.1 as my sound
card. I have an ALSA device called 'envy_spdif' for digital output to my
receiver which works correctly in other applications (like xine and xmms).
In MythTV I set the sound device to 'ALSA:envy_spdif', but when I go to
watch live TV, I get video but no sound. I have seen other posts that
suggest turning the volume for the Line In on the soundcard all the way
down, but I looked at the controls available in alsamixer and I did not see
a control that appeared to be related to this.	I've seen others that
suggest turning off the AC3 passthru setting, so I tried that to no avail.

If someone could point me in the correct direction here I would greatly
appreciate it.

Thanks!

Rich Alimi
