They need to update their documentation.  I don't recall where it was that I
finally learned about nvidia-settings, but I stuck with an older driver
(4363, IIRC) for a while because it was the newest version I could find that
used the TVOverscan option.

Settings get stored in ~/.nvidia-settings-rc; you'll want to include
nvidia-settings --load-config-only in your X startup script.
