Hmmm... I'm relying on Google here, too, and it seems as though there 
are conflicting definitions of "MMX2".  In its first incarnation, MMX2 
was simply SSE.  However, I think that name was probably only used 
during the development process, hence there has never been an actual 
SSE-enabled processor that advertised MMX2.

The MMX2 that shows up in the mplayer output is likely AMD's extension 
to MMX, introduced in the Athlon in 1999.  This would explain why your 
Pentium 4 doesn't have it.
