[mythtv-users] Yet another newbie question

I was trying to rip a DVD (first try), and this message pops up:

Cannot connect to you Myth Transcoding Daemon.  You can try hitting any
number key to start it.  If you still see this message, then something
is really wrong.

Of course, the number key did not help.  So far this is the only
function that I can't seem to get working.  My setup is:

AMD 3000+
512 MB RAM
DVD ROM Drive
120 GB HD
XFX GeForce 5200
PVR-350

Any help would be appreciated.
