You need to run mythfrontend with the following command line:

env NO_XV=1 mythfrontend

This tells mythfrontend not to use Xv when displaying video (if you try 
to get a screenshot otherwise you'll just get a blue screen).  Use with 
caution; this will probably cause your CPU to be pegged while playing 
video, but it will enable you to grab a screenshot.
