I played back the MPEG file and didn't see anything abnormal. If the
black vertical lines that concern you are the ones on the far left and
right of the image, there's no need for concern. Analog television is
transmitted with "ragged" edges that are meant to be cut off by
"overscanning" the image (i.e. draw the top, bottom, left, and right
beyond the visible portion of the screen). Therefore, just adjust your
overscan settings (for your TV output *and* for MythTV) to get the
perfect picture. For example, with the settings I'm using (that just
overscan enough to get rid of the ragged edges), I get about 1/2" (on my
27" TV) more picture on each edge of the screen than I do with the input
going directly to my TV--meaning my TV (like most) is way too agressive
at overscanning. Just one more benefit of MythTV--the ability to
control the amount of overscan.

If there are other black vertical lines, it probably has something to do
with your video output. Try playing the video back on a different
computer using MPlayer or xine (or even Windows Media Player).

BTW, it's good to see you've nearly got your box built. :)

These are good.

All of these should be deleted. All the appropriate information is
autodetected. Jarod has updated his guide with better capture card
configuration information, so check the page again.

These are OK, too.

You might want to try the ck100zz rpm from ATrpms. It will probably be
more stable for you.
