I have a similar problem. My Myth box (currently borked, but that's
beside the point) serves up my MP3s to a Mandrake desktop by way of a
Samba mount. Using XMMS I can only listen to a couple of songs before
the mount hangs and I have to unmount and remount it. Copying the same
directory of songs locally and playing them works fine. It also works
fine from a Windows machine which has the share mounted. I'm pretty
sure it's exclusively a Samba problem but haven't really dug into it
yet.
