I've probably left something out on the lirc part... It isn't that lirc 
is buggy, its that the change to udev affects how device nodes get 
created. At the moment, I can recall if I tried lirc after a restart, 
which would be when things would get hairy, as the device nodes 
wouldn't be there anymore. The fix is easy (put lirc.rules from the 
lirc contrib directory into /etc/udev/rules.d/, I believe), I'm just 
not certain if it is in the latest ATrpms lirc packages or not, I'll 
try to take a look at that tomorrow...
