Thanks for the pointer. I took the advice of the bug report and did:
yum install video4linux.x86_64
yum install ivtv.x86_64
Which worked fine. I then went through Jarod's guide for the ivtv
install. Had a few
differences:
The /dev/video* devices are: (video0 is the bttv device)
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Nov 21 21:26 /dev/video -> video0
crw------- 1 mythtv root 81, 0 Nov 21 21:26 /dev/video0
crw------- 1 mythtv root 81, 1 Nov 22 21:19 /dev/video1
crw------- 1 mythtv root 81, 24 Nov 22 21:19 /dev/video24
crw------- 1 mythtv root 81, 32 Nov 22 21:19 /dev/video32
I edited /etc/modprobe.conf, and had to comment out a bttv line:
#alias char-major-81 bttv
I added:
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
# ivtv modules setup
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-1 ivtv
I can't figure out how to get the ivtv module loaded at boot time,
though. I still have to
manually 'modprobe ivtv' after every reboot. If it's in the guide I
overlooked it.
However, once the drivers are loaded, it seems to be working fine.
This install is going so well I am going to have to try out the nvidia X
driver. I'll report
back on that later.
I have to say this has been the easiest install of a myth system yet.
Mandrake 9.2 was
second easiest, and I never did get fedora core 2 to fully work.
Despite some of the
problems I've had, the solutions have all been relatively easy. I
haven't had to compile
code at all so far. I do plan to get to where I can check out the CVS
versions, but that,
like the nvidia drivers, is a task that is going to have to wait.
