Are you familiar with mysqlcc, or other ways of hacking/updating MySQL
databases?  If so, read on:

Untar the file into some directory.  Modify the "icon" field in the
"channel" table of the "mythconverg" database on the backend server.
The value to place into the field is the full local path to the image
for that channel.
