[mythtv-users] Freeze during initial setup

After building and installing MytvTV from source code, I went into the 
'setup' directory and issued the command:
# ./setup
as advised in the online MythTV documentation.

I then saw five graphical menu entries and started entering into them, one 
after one, and adjusting the settings. After doing this for the third menu 
entry, "Video Source", I pressed the 'Finish' button and from there I got a 
dialog with a progress bar showing "50%". The progress bar did not go any 
further. In the end I chose to press "Ctrl-Alt-BkSpc".

Exactly the same thing happened when I attempted the setup again. I ought to 
say that I follow the documentation advice and choose to clear card 
information etc., when the setup program starts.

Any ideas about how to get over this problem?
