[mythtv-users] XBOX slow loading Live TV and Recorded video (10-15 seconds)

I have observed the same thing, and I would guess that
it's nornal.

Most frontend/backend installations are done via NFS,
and NFS is at times not known for being particularly
speedy (or robust, but that's another story).

In order to start playback, there's a fair amount of
data that has to be streamed to start, that's where
your delay is. In the case of LiveTV, not only do you
have to buffer two or three seconds of video, but you
then have to send that our over the network.

One thing that you might want to consider is hooking
up your XBox to your backend PC with a crossover cable
to see if that helps things. Let's just say that
routers, hubs and switches have varying quality
depending on who actually made them (which is not
necessarily the same as the company name they're sold
under).
