If you don't need a DVD drive, then I really like the Hauppauge MVP1000. 
  It's quite cheap (got mine for $82 from buy.com), but you can only do 
MPEG-1/2.  Boots via tftp, uses one of those 12V wall-warts.  And it's 
really quite tiny.
