[mythtv-users] Newbie needs help with DVICO-Fusion tuner

Hi All

I have jumped into Linux at the deep-end by trying to build a MythTV box. I chose a DVICO Fusion digital HDTV card because of its good reviews in Australia and because of the availability of Chris Pascoe's Linux driver.

I'm running a 3GHz P4 in a GigaByte 8KNXP mobo with 512MBytes RAM, an NVidia GForce2 with TVOut and 2 x 80GB 7200rpm HDDs.

I followed Jarod Wilson's guide, except that I prefer the Gnome GUI, and have since upgraded to Linux 2.6.9 from kernel.org. I can get a clean compile and install of the new kernel, and I have successfully installed MythTV, but I am unable to build Chris Pascoe's drivers and as a result MythtTV can't find my tuner. Unfortunately I don't fully understand his instructions so I might be doing something wrong. I can get the CX88 stuff to make, but not the DVB-kernel stuff. It's failing with an unknown reference to an identifier 'ethernet' as follows:

[ -L saa7146_video.c ] || ./getlinks
rm -rf bt848.h
ln -s /lib/modules/2.6.9/build/drivers/media/video/bt848.h bt848.h
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.9/build  SUBDIRS=/home/mythtv/dvb-kernel/build-2.6 AV7110_FIRMWARE= AV7110_OSD=y
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.9'
  CC [M]  /home/mythtv/dvb-kernel/build-2.6/dvb_net.o
/home/mythtv/dvb-kernel/build-2.6/dvb_net.c: In function `dvb_net_eth_type_trans':
/home/mythtv/dvb-kernel/build-2.6/dvb_net.c:145: error: union has no member named `ethernet'
make[2]: *** [/home/mythtv/dvb-kernel/build-2.6/dvb_net.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [_module_/home/mythtv/dvb-kernel/build-2.6] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.9'
make: *** [all] Error 2

I apologise for my ignorance and I am finding it hard to frame a clear question. Basically has anyone got the DVICO-Fusion tuner working and can they offer any hints?

Tony Luha
