[mythtv-users] kernel 2.6 + mythtv?

Hmmm...

I got MythTV running fine on 2.6.1. However, it has taken me 2 months of
kernel hacking etc...

Have you checked the status of your devfs and devfsd? You might need to
install /udev (see http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/hotplug/
) instead of devfs. Then make some nice symlinks from /dev to /udev.

You got the needed stuff in your new kernel (v4l?). Also verify the
contents of the new kernel module files in /etc/... (Cannot remember
their names!), and make sure that you got all your .ko files loaded.

Another idea: Check the permissions of the video nodes in /dev.....

I don't know anything about those RPMs you mention, but I hope the above
stuff gives you some ideas to solve your problems.

Cheers,
~Morten

I upgraded my workstation to fedora core 2 awhile back, but hadn't
messed with mythtv on it. Last night, I went to edit some videos, and
all I got was a black screen when I tried to watch the video (or live
tv). Sound worked fine, but the screen was black (although the preview
image on the "watch recordings" screen played fine).

At this point, I upgraded to Axel's latest .15 rpm's (I was running some
homebuilt ones from CVS a few days before .15 was released), but the
problem persisted.

I then rebooted into a 2.4 kernel (stupid usb cd burner bug in 2.6 so I
need to have it around to burn dvd's), and myth works fine. Let me know
what I can do to provide more info here...
