Apologies. I use a pvr250 MCE version not "240"

Subject: [mythtv-users] Mythtv - dropping frames in FC1, pvr240mce

Hello,

I'm using Mythtv.15 installed mostly by using by using Jarod's guide.
It's on a Soyo sy-7vba133u with a p3 1 ghz processor and 512 megabytes
of ram. I'm using a Geforce 440mx for the TV out using the Nvidia
drivers and ivtv 0.1.10pre2 for capture. Naitive alsa for sound.
Everything's working okay so far except for one thing.

It seems to be systematically dropping frames resulting in choppy
playback. I'm sure it has to do with capture. I'm unable to get the
recorded video to play in windows to be sure, but when I go to the watch
recordings menu, the preview window shows the video sped up. This could
be an indication. Also I've tried all the playback options (experimental
timebase av sync, jitter reduction, extra buffering etc) and it always
ends up the video pausing about 5 seconds in to the point where I can't
do anything. I have to restart mythfrontend. But those few seconds speak
volumes. I turn on av/sync and the sound eventually cracks up in a few
seconds and the playback is too fast. If I try and do jitter reduction
and the playback seems smooth but very fast, but the sound goes in and
out until it crashes. If I do use video as a time base, the sound goes
in and out after a bit and the video seems to be going normal speed but
with dropped frames. Other setting combinations lead to the program's
demise after a few seconds.

I've tried everything I can think of but it seems that my video files
are missing frames, and while it plays okay, it's slightly choppy. Could
this be a ivtv problem or a sound problem? I've looked around but can't
seem to find this answer.

Thanks for all your guys help in advance. This is my 1st question,
asked, but I've had a million questions answered so far.

-Robert
