Yes, I also have a 16:9 TV and notice this. It's a significant issue
when watching something in 16:9 Zoom mode. If something is recorded
from my 4:3 source, but there is letterboxing (sci-fi channel does
this a lot), then I like to put it in 16:9 mode to fill up my screen
perfectly. However, the OSD is way off the bottom of the screen when
used in this mode.

It would probably just be a matter of checking the current zoom mode
and repositioning/stetching the OSD accordingly.

No, that would not work on the 16:9 Zoom mode, since the bottom would
still be cut off below. I think he's talking about viewing on a 16:9
TV, not on a 4:3 TV.

Oh ok,

But surely 16:9 zoom just moves the 4:3 'viewing area' to the centre of
the 16:9 image (ie you loose the side of the image. I have a 4:3 set
but watch 16:9 DVB-T material in 16:9 zoom to get the most picture - or
at least the least black - so I could be confusing things when you have
a 16:9 output device.

When in this mode it is a right royal PITA to have to change screen
modes just to see the OSD - not good for WAF.

- caveat : I may have the screen modes wrong as I don't have a 16:9
device and I am not near my Myth Box to have a look at what they are.
