It's a Prism 2 chipset as far as I've found. I got it semi working, but it
refuses to connect ;-) I was trying to use linux-wlan

I just googled for the at76c503 driver and clicked all the links I could
find. Do you know what driver (i.e. chipset) the DWL-122 uses? D-link's
numbering scheme leaves a lot to be desired, since the 120 could be a
completely different chipset from the 122.

I found that iwconfig was easy enough to use to set up WEP keys etc. FYI -
I'm running Fedora Core 2 (thanks to apt-get), though I got this working on
FC1- I can post my config files if that would help.

Paul,

Did you find one site or one suggestion helped you the most getting the
DWL-120 working? I have a DWL-122 and it's giving me a bear of a time ;-)

working

Okay, thanks to everyone who made suggestions. I finally got the DWL120
working and connecting on boot, which was a royal pain. The at76c503 driver
seems to require that ESSID broadcast be turned on, which I'm not entirely
happy with, but it works. Even does 128bit encryption, which the windows
driver for the DWL120 never did.

Now the one remaining hardware problem I have is the X10 remote - I
confirmed that the USB transceiver is working by installing everything on my
windows box and testing the buttons, so I know that's not the problem now.

I have the ~/.lircrc, ~/.mythtv/lircrc and /etc/lircd.conf files set up,
lsmod shows the lirc_atiusb driver is loaded, I have the alias char-major-61
lirc_dev and alias lirc_dev lirc_atiusb lines in modules.conf, the lircd
daemon is started.

If I stop the lircd daemon and start it with --nodaemon, I see a single line
of output:

<numbers>lircd(any)...

where <numbers> is a string of numbers that I think represent the version,
but I don't have it in front of me (sorry). From some posts I've seen I'm
thinking this should say <numbers>lirc(atiusb).. is that correct?

When I run irw I do not get any output when pressing the remote buttons.
Are there any troubleshooting steps that people can walk me through or a
good help site. I looked everywhere I could find and googled as best I
could to no avail.

I can't wait to get this working (looks like it won't be in time for the
season finales of some of the shows I wanted to record, but oh well...), any
help anyone can provide will be more than welcome.

Oh, and I promise not to make any more rants about wikis.

Paul
