I only see the CheckChannel failed message when I first start the
backend. I don't see it again unless I restart the backend.

I'm using a bttv based card somebody on the list recommend that cost all
of $15. Do you think this card could be the problem? In a different
post, somebody suggested hitting the 'C' key to check the input, and
this fixes the problem. It would seem I guess that the card is not
staying on the correct input after changing the channel?
