folks,

i've put together a HOWTO entitled "Notes on building a separate instance
of LIRC to control a DISH receiver using a simple IR LED transmitter
connected to an unused serial port".  a lot of words, i know... but i
wanted to give the folks who run searches here a decent shot at finding
it. :)
