[mythtv-users] Using DVD writer as primary DVD drive?

Actually, I've tried the "perfect rip" many times but it always dies
after a few minutes. I am using Fedora Core 1. I recall another user
reported this problem a few days ago.

However, is "perfect rip" really a _copy_ or just "high quality" ?

I don't know anything about transcode, but what I fear is
that the "perfect rip" is equivalent to the "100% quality"
of JPEGs, i.e., you don't get _exactly_ the original, while I'd
like to store the DVD on my hard disk "as is", including the menus,
languages, etc., for later playing, without losing a single bit.

Other people on this list had told me that there are programs
like dvdbackup, ebuild, vobcopy that could do that. I still
didn't try, however, I'd like to be able to do it from within
mythtv, without resorting to opening a shell and giving commands.

Also, once I have my DVDs backupped on the hard disk,
I'd like to use mythtv to browse them (icons associated to the movies?)
and play them....
