[mythtv-users] Questions about mythtv and if its what I need

The backend does most of the work as you said, but you can have multiple 
backends, and/or combination backend/frontend machines. Frontends do need to 
be able to decode the video thats streamed to it from the backend. I see 
about 15% on my 1700 athlon xp when only doing playback. I don't know if you 
can go diskless for a frontend, but it may be possible. I've have heard of 
xbox frontends, and mini-itx computers that work well as frontends.
