Really? I have one of these in my living room, and other than when it 
first starts up this thing is almost completely silent (as in 3 feet 
away with TV volume at a reasonable state).  There's a BIOS option that 
allows you to set the fan to automatically slow down when it's not 
needed.  Have you enabled it?
