The change channel scripts live in mythtv_source_dir/contrib if you
install from source. If you installed from a package, I don't know where
they get put.

As far as the xmitter, you can build the simple xmitter if you plan on
putting the irled within a few inches of the ir reciever port on your
cable/satelite box. You will need to see what voltages your port puts
out before settling on the right value resister for the simple circuit.
If your port puts out in the range of 10-12v, I would go with around a
3500 ohm resister.

Or, you could build Enrique Vidal's circuit
(http://www.lirc.org/improved_transmitter.html). I built it, it works
great.

You didn't say what your using for a receiver circuit? If you build one
from the receivers page on lirc.org site, I would caution you to stay
away from the Panasonic infrared receiver ic. The range on them is
horrid do to the fact that its not very sensative. If you can find the
Radio Shack 276-0137, that works awesome. IIRC the 276-0137 is just a
repackaged Sharp GP1U271R.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
