Only true in practice with identical dishes. Since all reputable cable
companies use dishes in excess of 12 feet to receive their signals, they
will not be susceptible	to the same issues as 18" dishes commonly
dotting the American countryside (not sure how true this is across the
Atlantic or Pacific).

It takes a near emergency to cause dishes used by cable companies to get
disrupted by weather, fog or whatever. The worst culprit is a heavy
snowstorm. This is not because of the snow in the air just the
accumulation of snow on the dishes. The cable company that I currently
work for uses this immense dish called Simulsat which receives every
satellite we use on our HFC (hybrid fiber coaxial) plant. To disrupt
this dish is almost impossible. Of course when you do, the whole system
comes down.
