I am sorry, I am not sure I understand. Are you saying that the crash
was expected because the ringbuffer couldn't be written?
Can somebody please explain how the ring buffer works? Thanks.

Good point, I should have numbered the problems...

I found <URL:http://www.poptix.net/ivtv/current/msg00293.html>
There were two suggestions here:
#1. Use osdstream branch of ivtv.
I tried <URL:http://kmos.org/~ckennedy/ivtv/ivtv-0.1.9-osdstream-84e.tgz>,
but it wouldn't compile (undefined FBIO_CURSOR symbol).
So I tried version 87a instead, which appears to be the latest
version.
That compiles fine. I can get the saa7127 test image fine. I can
also receive and send MPEG video fine. I can't get anything else.
No X display for instance.
So I have reverted to the old version for now.
#2. Use server from <URL:http://membres.lycos.fr/badzzzz/>. The given
X driver generates a duplicate symbol error, and refuses to even start.

This is viewing it on a TV, so it should already be optimised for the
TV, right?
jose> The volume for the 350's tvout is probably controlled by

You can control it via TV.
However, you should also be able to control it from the card.
In fact, somebody pointed out:
test_ioctl -y volume=x
Which sets the volume fine. Is it possible to get mythtv to use this
IOCTL call to change the volume?
jose> All this is being heavily worked on in the ivtv mailing
jose> list.
Ok, good. Thanks.
