I'm adding 5 GPIO lines since the pic-an-lcd protocol that I'm emulating 
supports them already.  One of them will be an open collector output.  
Should the other four have series resistors for LEDs?  I guess I could 
add jumpers to short out the resistors if you want to drive something 
else.  These GPIO lines will be able to source and sink 25 mA.
