Tim, I like using the FT2232C as a solution better too.  I know that the 
microcontroller could route the data to the appropriate device (in fact, 
this is the way that I had originally planned to do it) as David Huseby 
explained, but if a piece of hardware can handle everything I'd rather 
use it.  I think this makes things easier for both development and user 
configuration.  I ordered some chips and should have them in by the 
middle of next week.  Hopefully by then I'll have a prototype pcb ready 
(T-Tech's QC5000 is AWESOME! www.t-tech.com/products/quickcircuit).
