[mythtv-users] Torrentocracy

There's no such thing as a free market - it's all controlled to some
degree by taxes, import tariffs etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum. "Government
redistribution" is pretty much the only reason for the existence of
government. Be it redistribution of resources, money etc. It's all the
same thing.

I agree that the Canadian solution is creative, and I think it's a whole
lot better start than the rushed-through, ill-conceived garbage that is
the DMCA. Since Canada is a Socialist country in many of it's policies
, it fits into their whole model rather well. Come to think of it,
since America is a facist, corporate-controlled country, the DMCA fits
in their model rather well too. ;-)

As interesting as this discussion could be it's probably not for this
list at this point.

Paul

That's an interesting solution to ballancing the interests of users and
copyright owners. I disagree with it completely on the grounds that
your government (I assume you're Canadian) is messing around with the
free market and controlling a compensation system which assumes that all
users of CD-R's are intending to make copies of CD's. (Not to say that
the US government is any better in regards to economic freedom.) I
stand firmly against government sponsored redistribution/compensation
systems, but I have to say that it is certainly a creative solution.
