There's nothing too figure out with videogen.  I don't want to nor do 
should I need to learn how to calcuate one by hand. 

Computers exist to make our lives easier not the other way around.  So 
you could whip out some paper and a pencil and do the math by hand then 
type it into the computer, or you could use a calculator on the computer 
and  type the line in by hand, or you could plug in the data you can get 
from your TV manual and the cut and paste the line.
