[mythtv-users] Cannot delete or play recordings or Live TV

Don't use other emails to the list as a template for emailing the list
via the "reply" button. Start a new thread instead.

When I try to delete a recorded program, everything hangs there until
the frontend spits out the following text to the tty:

Input #0, mpeg, from '/data/store//1562_20040617012300_20040617023000.
nuv':
  Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg2video, 480x480, 29.97 fps
  Stream #0.1: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, 384 kb/s
2004-06-17 11:51:18 ReadStringList timeout.

Nothing at all in the mythbackend log from that time. BTW...
gentoo on an athlon XP 2400+, ASUS A7V600
        kernel gentoo-sources-2.4.26-r2
        glibc-2.3.3-20040420, linuxthreads-0.10
        binutils-2.14.90.0.8 20040114
        gcc-3.3.3-r6, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6
        ivtv 0.1.9
        xorg-x11-6.7.0-r1
        qt-3.3.2
        mythtv-0.15.1

It shows the little preview window fine, but cannot do anything with the
recordings. mythtranscode /seems/ to work, but I can't really test that.

What I really want is for someone with some insight into mythtv to
conjecture about how I might narrow this down. Maybe a line or ten of
source code to edit, maybe running something in a debugger, etc. I am
not looking for someone to solve all my problems. If I was I'd have
posted to the list a hundred times about HDCP in my DVI, problems with
lirc and irman, and various other gotchas not answered by google.

Anyway, I hope someone can suggest something. It suggests to me that
maybe one of the threads isn't doing the right thing IPC wise (or IIOP
or DCOP or whatever yadda yadda buzzword).

Thanks in advance, and thanks a zillion for the coolest DVR in town!
