I used a USB remote that came with my VisionPlus DVB-T card for a while
- it too was a USB HID, so it just worked straight out of the box (which
was rather offputting - things just don't do that under linux).
As far as I'm aware, you have two options. You could use Xmodmap to
remap the keys in X, but that will also remap the same key on the
keyboard, so it's not much good if you use the machine for anything but
Myth.
Alternatively, you could reassign the keys that Myth uses. You can
either do this with MythWeb's settings page, or by directly editing the
database's keybindings table.
I went with the latter, and managed to get most of my remote's keys
working. The exceptions were the volume keys, which equated to something
like Shift-PageUp.
In the end, I built a homebrew serial IR receiver, bought a OneForAll
universal remote, and used LiRC. It works well.
Cheers,
Jon
